Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners plans to develop a manufacturing facility that aims to leverage high-quality silica quartz from North Queensland to produce polysilicon, a component used for solar panels and in the electronics industry.
The global infrastructure investor Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has acquired a 200-hectare site at the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct to develop a Polysilicon manufacturing facility. This multi-billion-dollar project aims to leverage the region's abundant solar energy and critical minerals resources, including high-quality silica quartz from North Queensland.
Quinbrook anticipates exporting the components manufactured at the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct site for finished solar modules and batteries. This project aligns with the growing demand for renewable energy solutions and the increasing importance of domestic critical minerals supply chains. To assist in the project's progression, the State Government has declared it as a prescribed project.
