North Queensland is strongly connected to this region through the flow of labour, logistics and commercial services. The North West Mineral Province is estimated to hold over $500 billion worth of untapped critical minerals. Expanding manufacturing capacity in the region creates a significant opportunity to add value to the resources sector while enhancing economic security.

There is 33GW of potential energy across the corridor that will be unlocked with the development of the CopperString transmission line. With over 300 days of sunlight, paired with day and night winds in Hughenden, the region is set to be an energy powerhouse providing clean energy for Queensland and Australia.

The region is an emerging destination for the production and export of renewable hydrogen, with several projects progressing in the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel is another emerging industry for the region, with the recent announcement of refinery located in the Townsville State Development Area. Major renewable energy projects, including solar farms and wind turbines, dot the landscape, contributing to the region's growing green energy portfolio.
